Strategies and tools
Participants learn how to coach young people facing complex emotional, social, educational, and systemic challenges while maintaining ethical, compassionate, and sustainable practice.
Many young people today are navigating significant emotional, social, and systemic challenges without consistent support systems or trusted adult relationships.
Traditional approaches often fail to address the lived realities of youth impacted by trauma, poverty, violence, displacement, racism, family instability, or educational barriers.
The School of Social Change exists to help change that.
We believe coaching can become a powerful intervention for connection, empowerment, resilience, and transformation when grounded in empathy, consistency, accountability, and relationship.
When young people are truly seen, supported, and believed in, communities begin to change.

This Is More Than Coach Training
The School of Social Change was created in response to a growing need for professionals who can effectively support youth navigating trauma, systemic barriers, disconnection, and complex life circumstances.
Our approach combines evidence-informed coaching practices with trauma-informed care, reflective practice, systems awareness, and community-centered leadership.
We are training coaches who do more than set goals — we are preparing practitioners who can build trust, foster resilience, and help young people reconnect to their strengths, potential, and future.
This work is challenging. It is deeply human. And it matters.

Our Mission
To train and support coaches and community practitioners who are committed to creating safer, healthier, and more equitable communities through relationship-centered coaching and transformational leadership.
We believe every young person deserves access to consistent, compassionate adults who see their potential and walk alongside them toward growth and possibility.

Building Stronger Futures Through Relationship-Based Support
We envision communities where young people feel supported, connected, valued, and empowered to shape their futures.
By equipping coaches and practitioners with trauma-informed tools and community-centered approaches, we are helping create stronger support systems for youth and more resilient communities for everyone.

In 1995, Dan Coronachia and I created a visual mission statement for PACT — an intergenerational map that illustrated the impact of breaking the cycle of poverty and the many social conditions connected to it. Our research suggested that changing the trajectory of one life could positively affect as many as 243 people over the next five generations.
That vision became the foundation for PACT.
Over the past 31 years, PACT Life Coaches have worked with more than 1,000 high-risk youth, helping young people navigate adversity, rediscover their strengths, and build healthier futures. Through this experience, we developed a highly specialized coaching model designed specifically for youth facing complex emotional, social, and systemic challenges.
In recent years, we have also expanded our work into early prevention programming beginning in Grade 7. One of our guiding principles has always been: Teach to Scale. The launch of the School of Social Change represents the next evolution of that vision — creating a space where certified Life Coaches and community practitioners can learn the specialized tools, strategies, and relational practices that have shaped PACT’s work for decades.
This school exists because of the extraordinary people who helped build it.
Craig Trowhill, PACT’s samurai warrior, brought exceptional wisdom, passion, and heart to our coaching model, leaving a lasting impact on both our program and the young people we serve.
Adria Trowhill, former Dean of the Adler School of Professional Coaching, has provided invaluable mentorship, leadership, and encouragement throughout our journey.
I also want to recognize Ben Marshall and Rachel Schwab for their ongoing commitment to strengthening and evolving both our program and curriculum.
And finally, Wendy Fortune, our Director of Education, whose leadership, vision, and dedication over the past 16 years have been instrumental in bringing the School of Social Change to life.
Together, these remarkable individuals have helped shape PACT’s past, strengthen its present, and build the foundation for its future.
