Megan Warren

Grow-to-Learn Site Manager (JPCI)

megan@pactprogram.ca

Megan is a community-engaged urban gardener, coordinator, and artist interested in food, sustainability, and land stewardship. Her experiences with nature, gardening, growing, and preparing food go back to childhood, but her interests collided when she began using plants as textile dyes in university. She continued using botanicals in her art and wares as a creative freelancer and floral apprentice. Megan has become passionate about the connections between nature, the arts, and their benefits on mental and physical health.

Megan began urban gardening in 2016, growing veggies on her balcony. In 2018 she collaborated on designing and growing a large backyard vegetable garden that fed several people with harvests and preserves. She continued sharing other neighbours yards and her harvests, began working as a residential gardener, and in 2021 undertook the coordination and design of a vegetable and pollinator garden with weekly drop-in programming at a transitional home for older women. Since then she’s had the opportunity to develop educational materials and support greenhouse, urban farm and food initiatives with several organizations in Toronto.
